Michael Bisping

Bisping has been angered by Marquardt, who recently called the Brit an “ass” and claimed he would “like to punch him in the face to shut him up” following Bisping’s alleged spitting controversy at UFC 127.

Marquardt has a chequered history of his own, having been suspended in 2005 for testing positive for nandrolone. He also had a point deducted for an illegal knee against Thales Leites at UFC 85, so Bisping told the American to jump down off his high horse.

“He’s a steroid cheat, let’s not forget that,” Bisping told the MMA Hour. “He’s had points taken away for illegally kneeing people himself, and then he goes out talking about me as if I’m Satan or something. The guy’s an absolute hypocrite.”

The heightening trash talk between the pair could be seen as an effort to hype a forthcoming showdown, but Bisping insists he does not want to fight Marquardt.

“He s*** the bed every time he’s in a main event,” the 32-year-old continued. “He’s had three No. 1 contender fights and a title shot and lost them all. I want to fight the top guys and I think Chael Sonnen for me is the biggest possible name I could get, and that’s what I’m hoping for. Nate Marquardt doesn’t excite me.”

Bisping may have to wait for Sonnen though, after he had his court hearing regarding a money laundering charge postponed on Monday.

Chael Sonnen speaks to Inside MMA after his hearing with the California State Athletic Commision, his first interview since the drama surrounding his drug test readings after his infamous bout versus p4p king Anderson Silva. Sonnen has had his suspension reduced by 6 months and is right back in the mixer as far as I’m concerned…..

Nate Marquardt

Nate is injury free since his fight with Palhares at UFC UFN 22.

Yet another set back for ‘The Phenom’ as he was forced to withdraw from his Number 1 Middleweight contender showdown with Yushin Okami. According to sources close to MMAFriedRice.com and also MMAWeekly.com say Nate Marquardt has stepped in and will headline the UFC’s second outing in Germany. Belfort who actually has not made his middleweight debut for the UFC yet cannot be reached for any clarifications on what has forced him out of his Number 1 contender fight.

Vitor withdrew from his title shot scheduled for UFC 112 Abu Dhabi with a shoulder injury. Vitor has not fought in the octagon since his catch-weight bout with Rich Franklin which was just over a year ago at UFC 103, when he won via tko in devastating fashion in the first round.  The UFC has not yet declared whether this bout will be for the Number 1 spot amid all the revelations of Chael Sonnen failing his drug test for his UFC 117 bout with Anderson Silva and his immediate rematch almost certainly called off.

British MMA star Michael Bisping speaks to The Mirror on his upcoming UFC 120 but versus Yoshihiro Akiyama. Bisping also speaks on fellow UFC fighters Chael Sonnen, in response to the American’s recent trash talk,Patrick Cote, and on his role in British Soap Hollyoaks

“Recently, he’s looking phenomenal. I mean, (in) his last three fights he’s been very dominating and he’s been great” says Bisping. “I think personally he’s a bit of a tool to be honest. Okay, he’s great at what he does and I’ve definitely laughed my arse off at some of his comments. I think he’s great, he’s awesome at promoting a fight, he really is, but he’s delusional and he’s so far up his own arse it’s unbelievable”.

“I’d love to fight Chael Sonnen”

After a grueling 5 round bout with UFC Middlewight Champ Anderson Silva at the recently passes UFC 117 in Oakland, challenger Chael Sonnen will be granted his wish of a rematch with the world #1 Pound4Pound mixed martial Artist. For 4 and a half rounds, the Greco Roman wrestler, Sonnen, showed the rest of the world how to beat the man who seen as invincible by most, before being beaten at the last, forced to tap to a triangle armbar late in the 5th round.

Rumours circulated late last night after Lance Pugmire of the LA Times tweeted:

“UFC will stage Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen rematch on New Year’s Eve or Super Bowl card, depending on Silva’s hurt ribs. #UFC, #MMA” – @latimespugmire on Twitter

The fight is rumoured to be taking place at either UFC’s New Years Eve (NYE) show or at the UFC’s Superbowl show, all dependent on the status of the rib injury sustained by chmap Anderson Silva.

Anderson Silva

At the UFC 117 post fight press conference, Anderson Silva had mentioned how he had injured his ribs whilst grappling with Japanese Olympic Judo Gold Medallist Ishii. It has now been confirmed by several sources that Anderson has a cracked rib and will be unavailable until at least February or March 2011.

Ramon Lemos confirmed with Tatame.com that Anderson had not broken his rib but it was cracked. Here are his comments which have been kindly translated from Portugese:

“After the first round he said he broke his ribs. He said told me he could not breath because of the rib. I told him to forget the rib and work the movement of legs and he would get the triangle… After the fight he went to the hospital and did an x-ray and the doctor said he did not break it, it was just a crack.

Anderson is expected to return in February or March. We have not talked, but he has to take care of injuries, he fought twice last year and had an operation on his elbow. This year he made two more fights and now with this rib injury… He is no longer a boy, he is 34 years old.” Tatame.com

Bearing this in mind, we have looked at a couple of  possible match ups available to Joe Silva and the UFC in the mean time:

Vitor Belfort vs Chael Sonnen This would prove to be an interesting match up with Vitor more than likely going into the fight as an underdog after the performance Chael put in at UFC 117. However no one can deny the One-punch KO power of Vitor. Chael would also be able to gain revenge as Vitor Knocked Out Chael’s head coach Matt Lindland in spectacular fashion at Affliction-’Day of Reckoning’ in 37 seconds. Chael put on a hell of a performance on Saturday night and although he lost, he showed exactly what he brings to the table.

Nate Marquadt/Rousimar Palhares vs Yushin Okami With Nate and Rousimar rescheduled to face of at UFC Fight Night on Wednesday September 15. The winner being thrown right into the mix of Middleweight contenders. Dana White has stated that Yushin is about ready for a title shot. Anderson would be keen for a fight with Yushin considering Yushin Okami is the last person to defeat Anderson way back in 2006. Although the fight was lost by a disqualification, it is still counted as a loss and Yushin still has the claim to being the last man to defeat Anderson. Yushin is coming of a decision victory over Andersons fellow Blackhouse team mate Mark Munoz.
